Tell us about yourself and how you got here.
I am a Perth girl, born and raised. I love WA and can’t see myself anywhere else! I happened to stumble across Inclusion WA in late 2014. After graduating as an Occupational Therapist I decided to take some time off from work and uni life to focus on my biggest hobby, music. I began volunteering for Catch Music, facilitating jam sessions for people who wanted to get together with likeminded musicians. Fortunately for me Catch Music sent me on a training day at Inclusion WA. After the session I thought “wow THIS is where I want to work”! The rest is history, my ‘gap year’ lasted for about 2 months and I’ve been with Inclusion WA ever since.
Can you tell us something cool about your local area?
My local area holds a special place in my heart as it is where my grandparents first settled after arriving in Australia in the 1950’s! They had a big influence on the community and I’m happy I’ve been able to move there also. The coolest thing? I am a 1min stroll away from the local farmers market which runs every weekend. Nothing like waking up on a Sunday to the smell of fresh coffee and bread from across the road.
What’s something you do differently than most people?
I am someone who will give just about anything a go once! (Except sky diving).
What’s your favourite way to spend a Saturday?
I love spending Saturdays with family and friends. A typical Saturday will involve catching up with a friend or family member on the coast for a coffee. At night I bring out my ‘inner rock star’ and play bass in pubs and clubs with my band- It’s one of my favourite things to do!
Pretty much the best song in the world is…
There is no way I can answer that! What is the word count on this? I’m a big fan of classic rock as it sparked my interest in playing guitar. I guess if I HAD to pick a few artists I’d chose Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan… oh and Beyoncé.
How would your best friend describe you?
Loyal, funny, calm, determined and a good listener.
