At Personal Assistants WA we believe that self-determination is a human right and that good support means building the capacity of people with disability and their families to take more control of their lives. 

We think that Self-Managing funding is a great option for people who want to take more control over their services and design the life they want for themselves. However, Self-Management is not for everyone because it also comes with a whole lot of responsibilities such as:

  • Claiming from NDIS
  • Hiring support staff – this means recruiting, interviewing, contracts and making sure you have things like police checks and any training requirements
  • Administration tasks such as keeping track of budgets, payroll, tax, super, insurance
  • Coordinating all services including who does what when and which goals you and your supports are working on
  • Reporting at the end of your plan

Some people have told us that they would find it difficult to go straight from agency managing to self managing their funding due to the extra requirements so we created a Shared Management service with two clear objectives - to make it easier for people who choose to manage their own funding and to assist people to attract and retain the best possible staff.
