Staff Profile: Danielle May
Name: Danielle May
Current Role: Coordinator – North Hub
Previous Role: Mentor
Can you tell us about how you got here?
After spending most of my life in Perth, I left to travel around Europe and ended up living in England for a little longer than planned. When I decided to come back to Perth and knuckle down to do some study, I found a job as a Mentor at Inclusion WA and have been here ever since. At the end of last year I started in my role as a Coordinator. Prior to Inclusion WA, I’d done similar work overseas, along with jobs in all kinds of industries to fund my travels.
What are your favourite pastimes/hobbies?
I love being in nature so try and get out for a hike or beach walk/swim as often as possible. I also enjoy a good crafternoon and am attempting to learn to crochet at the moment but my ultimate passion is food – cooking and eating it and I spend way more money than I’d like to admit on eating out!
What’s your favourite cartoon character?
Oooh this is hard…I was a massive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan as a kid.
What’s your favourite food?
All the food! But I especially love Mexican and Thai food.
What are you passionate about?
Do you have a favourite quote you can share with us?
“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.” – Roald Dahl
Is there anything else you’d like us to know?
The picture is of me at Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal. The scenery along the way of this trek was the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Getting there though was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done – which is a great reminder that most of us live a pretty easy and privileged life here in Perth.
Tackling Social Isolation - Barriers and Challenges
We asked people first-hand about the main barriers and challenges they face when trying to get involved with things in the community.
Empowerment through Self-Management
We spoke with Kristy Macnamara about her role with Inclusion WA’s newest division – Personal Assistants WA.
Who are you? I am Ken, I live in East Vic Park.
